New property hits the market in Italy

If you’re shopping for brand new properties, Italy is usually the last place you would look into. Most of the available properties in Italy are old or in need of major reconstruction or renovation. The good news for property investors who prefer the Italian sun is that the demand for new properties has grown significantly in the past few years.

According to Linda Travella of Casa Travella, the Italians have been so used to older properties that they are more enthusiastic towards newer property than one would imagine. She goes on to say that “whilst there will always be a market for converting older buildings into modern-day residences, there is now a growing number of clients on my books looking for something brand new or converted”.

To cater to the growing demand, Casa Travella is marketing new, two- and three-bedroom properties at Lido Di Metaponto located in Basilicata. The properties, starting at £80,000, are residential type developments. The location is not far from the beach and the Club Med Village. It is also conviniently situated near the Bari or Brindisi airport. Prices for the properties start from £80,000.

Investors may also want to consider the new complex Borgo La Fornace in the Casentino area of Tuscany. It is a fairly undiscovered area. This means property prices are still manageable. 50 kilometres away from Florence, the complex comprices of 60 new apartments built around a central piazza. Home owners will have access to a pool and tennis court. The one-bedroom property starts from £79,000.

Umbria is also another place to look into. The property market in this area has been boosted by new budget flights that reduce travel times from Britain. Over in Ficulle, Umbria, Premier Resorts is offering a new hilltop residential development aptly called ‘The Hills’. A one-bedroom apartment starts from £108,000.
