8 Reasons to invest in Morocco
Morocco, a country in North Africa, is a land so intrinsically beautiful and lush in heritage, history and art. If that is not more than enough reason to invest on properties in Morocco, here are eight more:
1. The tax regime in Morocco is sympathetic to foreign investors. Investors are given exemptions from certain taxes for several years and a significant reduction in other taxes. Investors from the UK can also benefit from the ‘double taxation treaty’ between Morocco and the UK. This means that where tax is due, an investor is only obliged to pay it once.
2. Morocco’s king and government have pledged to make “The Western Kingdom” a premier destination by 2010. Vision 2010 aims to double tourists and visitors to 10 million a year.
3. Several infrastructure and improvements are presently underway. Americans are investing billions of dollars in new ports. In addition, new airports are being opened all over Morocco. There are also several projects that involve new motorways and high speed rail links.
4. In 2025, a tunnel will be opened under the sea between Morocco and Spain.
5. In line with the Vision 2010 policy, an ‘open skies’ agreement has been signed by the Moroccan government. This agreement guarantees that airports will be of world class standards by the year 2010. This is good news for low cost airlines offering budget flights, making the country more accessible to a wider number of travelers.
6. New developments influenced by Dubai are being planned all over Morocco. All developments and improvements strictly conform to environmental controls. This means that the over-development in places like Spain should not be a problem. Pollution should also be kept to a minimum.
7. Morocco boasts a year-round warm and friendly climate. Its over 1,100 miles of coastline are mostly unspoilt by commercialism or abuse. Nature loves will appreciate the country’s pristine white beaches and miles of breathtaking scenery.
8. Morocco is the latest hot spot for celebrities and famous people like the Beckhams, Jude Law, George Clooney and Brad Pitt who bought prime properties there recently. The media spotlight that this celebrity presence attracts will help tourism in the country.
