Portuguese golf resorts driving investment
Oceanico Developments’ new five-star Amendoeira resort in the Algarve features two 18-hole golf courses designed by Nick Faldo and Christy O’Connor, Jr. The resort will be managed by Troon Golf. The 64-acre site near Silves is scheduled for Phase One completion in 2007 and is expected to open in 2008.
Located 25 minutes from Faro Airport, the golf resort will be set against the backdrop of the country’s Monchique Mountains. It will incorporate a Portuguese PGA Golf Academy, state-of-the-art golf simulator, golf and sports lounge, pro-shop, bar and restaurant, and banquet facilities.
“We are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with the Oceanico Group,” said Bruce Glasco, Troon Golf Managing Director. “Amendoeira Golf Resort will offer visitors an exceptional golf experience with superb course conditions and outstanding service.”
Amendoeira offers a choice of accommodation for those interested in investing in Portuguese golf resorts. Residences range from luxury four- and five-bedroom villas with private swimming pools, to three bedroom villas with an optional swimming pool, and two- and three-bedroom apartments with a communal pool. Prices for the resort are not yet available.
Ready2Invest’s lagoon-side Pinhal Village Portuguese golf resort in the cheaper Silver Coast region is also now available. Owners will benefit from a golf course, driving range, tennis courts, communal pool and a spa. The resort is also situated five minutes away from two championship golf courses: Praia D’El Rey and Bom Sucesso.
“What’s special about Pinhal Village is that it will be host to some great modern design, spacious villas, providing a home away from home as well as a very lucrative investment,” said Alise Crossick, Director of Reday2Invest. “It is a safe, secure EU location with a mature mortgage market but at non-EU prices.”
Pinhal Village will comprise of 54 villas with a plot size of 526 square-metres, allowing for individual landscaped gardens and swimming pools. Prices start from 255,000 euros, around 33 per cent below market value compared to near-by Portuguese golf resorts.
