Vale Do Lobo II Gets Go Ahead
The huge Vale do Lobo III extension project at the eponymous luxury development on Portugal’s Algarve has received final planning permission. The €500-million scheme – including a five-star, 180-suite hotel and plots for 283 luxury villas and apartments – has already been launched, with work on the necessary infrastructure now underway; the construction of the first phase of properties is scheduled to begin in early 2007.
“I am extremely pleased that – after the long wait for planning permission – works can now continue on Vale do Lobo III,” said Sander Van Gelder, chairman of the Vale do Lobo Group. “This ambitious, high-quality project will make a significant contribution to Portuguese tourism and to the economy as a whole by enhancing the reputation of our region and the Loule council for offering quality accommodation and real estate.”
Vale do Lobo III will be developed around the fairways and lakes of the Royal golf course at the eastern edge of the resort. The scheme will include a new product in the form of a series of buildings each split into one two-bedroom and one three-bedroom house – the so-called ‘two-family unit’. This can be bought by one owner thus offering a main house and guesthouse on one plot, or by separate owners of what would then become standard semi-detached properties. The project will also feature 42 two- and three-bedroom apartments with sizes ranging between 100 square metres and 170 square metres.
