Buying overseas just got easier
When people near their retirement age, they usually contemplate on buying holiday homes abroad for their golden years. In fact, a report by Saga, specialists of people over 50, says a third of people aged 50 and over is considering purchasing a holiday home abroad for the future. Over half consider living abroad permanently.
To help those looking at the possibility of migrating to Spain, Saga launched its Saga Overseas Homes. The project consolidates all the services needed to buy a property in Spain including estate agents, legal advice and help with renting out properties bought as buy-to let investments. Saga is working closely with property specialists Chesterton and Medsea Estates on the Saga Overseas Homes project.
“Spain has always been a popular choice for those looking to purchase a holiday home – its sunnier climes, relatively lower cost of living, cheaper property prices and its close proximity mean it is the perfect choice for those looking to get away for a few weeks each year,” says Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga.
According to Goodsell, Saga’s research showed that the main concern of those looking to buy overseas were legal issues whilst others expressed concern about the language barriers. This is why Saga decided to incorporate help with these essential features when designing their services. “One of the benefits being that our customers will have the option to appoint an English-speaking lawyer from an independent panel.”
Clients who will buy new-build developments in Spain will be given six free return flights to use between payment of the deposit and completion of the purchase through Saga Overseas Homes. Also, if people want to rent out their property after the purchase is done, they can advertise on the site for a year free of charge.
